I get asked so many questions about my orange garland. I am NO PRO by any means, but I can tell you exactly what I did that turned out great!
As many of you know, we hope to list our home at the beginning of the year. While we are building our dream home we will be living tiny. Needless to say I had to start getting rid of things a loooong time ago for this to work. This year instead of getting all of our Christmas decor down from the attic to decorate with I got it down to chunk out the window! … ok , that was extremely dramatic. I actually just donated 90% of it and the rest I went ahead and packed away. SO I had to find a way to decorate this year that didn’t involve decor I would have to pack away immediately. Most of my decor this year consists of candy canes , dried oranges , rosemary , and some live greenery. (Sure, I have a few other things, but not much at all. And that’s just how we like it now! Less is more. I can just pack the things I have left in a small tub to store.)
So here is how I made my garland…
All you need is a couple of oranges and some twine.
First, I set my oven on the lowest it would go (I believe it was 135). Remember, you’re not trying to bake them, only dry them. Then, I sliced my oranges very thin. I then went ahead and poked a small hole in each slice (it’s easier to do it befor you dry them). Next, I placed each orange directly on my oven rack. I set my timer for 4 hours and went about my day! When I checked them they were perfect! So I strung them on some twine and that’s it! Yep, it was that easy.
I don’t feel like that was much of a DIY tutorial because it was that simple, but I got SO many questions on this so I thought I would just tell you all exactly what I did. I hope that helps!
Love always, Savannah
